Homemade pizza dough – so worth it. Even if it is gluten free, nothing beats made from scratch.
I made this Gluten Free Sausage & Pepper Pizza for two reasons: one, I had leftover sausage from my GLUTEN FREE MEXICAN SAUSAGE PASTA; and two, I had purchased two different types of gluten free pizza mixes that were sitting in my pantry. It was time to try one of these mixes. I chose to try the DOMATA. When making any gluten free type bread, you end up with a smaller rise. For my pizza dough, that is a plus. I prefer a thin crust and this gluten free flour creates a super thin crust. Hello Italy.
The dough is super easy to put together. Simply mix with water. No need, or should I say, Knead. I could pass on that pun. The dough and water does need to be mixed together. I used a dough hook in my mix master. The other lesson to share is to know that you should try to par-bake the dough before adding the toppings. The instructions on the Domata box do not say to par-bake but baking the dough just a little, will keep the crust crisper because it will not absorb the liquid from the tomato sauce.
One of the amazing things about this gluten free sausage & pepper pasta is how easy and quickly it comes together. I had made the sausage the day before. So I simply needed to cut my onions and peppers. I had pizza sauce in my pantry. So my prep time was like 2 minutes. It took longer to par-bake my crust. Whether or not you eat gluten free or not, you will want to try this super crispy crust.
