So many foods have multiple uses. These Seafood Sausage Dogs were the leftovers from a seafood sausage pasta that I made.
Creative Uses for Seafood
I love the idea of these seafood sausages. I get a monthly shipment of seafood from SITKA SALMON SHARES. Depending on our home schedule, sometimes we get a little build up of product. So just like I do with other proteins, I will make extra of the protein so I can pull it from the fridge when I do not have time to cook a full dinner. In this case, the seafood sausages were originally made for my SEAFOOD SAUSAGE PASTA. Instead of making a pasta with Italian or smoked sausages, I used seafood.
When is a Hot Dog Not a Hot Dog?
So how do you round out the seafood sausage dog with condiments? If this were a traditional hot dog, one would use mustard, ketchup (sorry Chicago), relish, tomatoes, onions, lettuce, etc. In my recipe, I played off the idea of toppings on a piece of a fish. My salsa base was mango mixed with jalapenos and red onions. Here is an example of a MANGO SALSA TOPPED SALMON I made a while back.
