The inspiration for this Asian Hot Dog Recipe is the opportunity to create this post for Social Fabric. These sponsored posts are so fun.  They truly call on one’s creative juices.  I have used this line before but it is like being on Chopped.  I totally love coming up with a new recipe.  The base of this recipe was Hebrew National® hot dogs and Hunt’s® diced tomatoes.  The dish can be accented with a wasabi mayo or Guilden’s® Mustard.  The last ingredient provides the needed spice.

Asian Hot Dog Recipe from Feed Your Soul Too

It is the perfect time for this post.  Summer is upon us and it is time to be using our grills.  What is more American than grilling hot dogs?  Nothing! But that did not stop me from adapting the American classic into this Asian spin.  The Asian spin begins with creating a chili using a hoisin sauce, General Tso sauce and a whole bunch of five spice.  The secret to a good recipe is that all components need to stand on their own.  I made this recipe for my son and wife.  My wife totally loved the chili.  She could not get over the uniqueness of the flavors but loved it.  The dish also had great crunch from the slaw.  I developed a Asian inspired dressing but used a broccoli slaw to make sure it was super crunchy.

I did my shopping at Walmart.  I found everything I needed.  I grabbed the last two bags of the broccoli slaw.  The perfect hot dog buns that baked up perfectly with the sesame seeds to emphasize the Asian spin. The recipe was rounded out with Hunt’s tomatoes and Guilden’s mustard (or a wasabi mayo) – something spicy.   Really cool opportunity to win a Walmart gift card to help you host your own backyard/patio or block party!!!  Check-out the #StarsOfSummer Sweepstakes where you have a chance to win a $50 Walmart gift card almost everyday leading up to Labor day (ends 8/31) as well as enter into the drawing for a $750 Walmart Gift Card grand prize. Winner selected on or around 8/31!

Ingredients

  • 1 Package Hebrew National Kosher Hot Dogs
  • 6 Whole Sesame Seed Buns
  • 2 Lbs Ground Turkey
  • 1/2 Cup Hoisin Sauce
  • 1/4 Cup General Tso Sauce
  • 2 Tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 2 Cans Hunt's Diced Tomatoes
  • 1 Tbsp Sea Salt
  • 1 Tbsp Black Pepper
  • 2 Tbsp Chinese Five Spice
  • 2 Tbsp Guilden's spicy mustard

Instructions

  1. Begin by browning the ground turkey on high heat in a Dutch oven.  Cook until browned.  Add in the spices and cook for one minute.

Next, add in the Hoisin, General Tso and soy sauce.  Simmer for 5 minutes.

Add in the Hunt's diced tomatoes.  Simmer for 5 minutes.  Set aside and keep warm.

Place the Hebrew National Kosher Dogs on your outdoor grill on medium heat. Cook for about 10 minutes rolling during cooking.  Get a good char on all sides of the hot dog.

Place the hot dog buns in a 325 degree oven and cook for 3 - 4 minutes.

Assemble the Asian Hot Dog Recipe by placing a healthy amount of chili on the bun.  Top with the kosher dog.  Next add a good amount of the broccoli slaw. Squeeze some Guilden's mustard on the hot dog.  Add some soy glaze and finish off with some chow mein noodles.

    Serve and enjoy!

This looks really amazing. I love flavours in this hod-dogs. Looks complicated to make but surprisingly it isn’t. I think I’ll save this recipe. My husband will love this.
