Ground turkey is such a good canvass for so many different recipes. Since ground turkey is so much milder than beef, by adding different ingredients one can create any flavor he desires. I have made many a recipe with ground turkey including INDIAN, MEXICAN and in a QUESADILLA. By using ground meat, you can also form the meat into whatever shape you wish. In this case, I was not using a bun, so I formed an extra large patty to make this Turkey Burger with Cilantro Sauce.
It is also fun to play with your sauces. My go to Mexican sauce is a CHIPOTLE that I roast tomatoes and onions and puree them with chipotles in adobo sauce. In this case, I chose to create a cilantro sauce. I find the flavors of a dish are enhanced when an ingredient is used more than once in the recipe. I chopped up the fresh cilantro and added it to the turkey patty. I also used its spice version by adding coriander as well. The sauce comes together easily in a food processor. I rarely use sorry cream to keep my recipes healthier but I added 2 tablespoons to add some depth to the sauce.
I think this recipe represents a meal that looks rather simple but has depth to it. The burger has good spice added, and good texture from bell peppers and red onions. The dish is plated for simply with a generous topping of the sauce dolloped on the burger.
