I needed creativity to name this made up drink so I turned to my wife. The name had to reflect the essence of the drink combination. I was generously provided a bottle of Templeton Rye for this creation. After a long day of work and filling my belly, I like to sit in front of the TV, work on my blog and sip on a drink. So my creation had to balance the rye of the whiskey with this being after dinner drink and the name had to reflect this fun combination. Hence, the Sweet Baby Rye.
This creation balanced the Templeton Rye with brandy, Creme de banana and orange juice. The glass was rimmed with sugar and orange zest and a couple ice cubes were added to put just the right chill on this drink.
I love my drinks with a little sweet edge but it has to be strong. It can not be too fruity. I enjoy infused whiskeys. So I did not really think about the result as I pulled out the ingredients but I essentially created an infused whiskey in a matter of minutes.
The ingredients including the Templeton Rye, brandy, Creme de Banana and orange juice.
Preparing the rim with the orange peel and sugar.
And the final drink.
