Sour Cream Oreo Valentine Cakes

A little more than a week ago, I made a sour cream chocolate bundt cake.  I was trying to think ahead and offer some valentines ideas for my readers.  So I thought that the cake would be taken up a notch if it was placed on an Oreo crust.  Yum.  The cake is so moist and then you get the crunch of the Oreo when you bite down.  This is a great mixing of textures.  The sour cream cake is also very forgiving.

Recipe
Sour Cream Oreo Valentine Cakes:
Oreo Crust:
Take 1 1/2 rows of Oreos and mix into crumbs in your Cuisinart.  Melt 5 tbsp of butter and combine.  Line a baking dish with wax or parchment paper and pour in and press down the Oreo crumb mixture.  Set aside.

Sour Cream Cake:
Ingredients:
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
2 1/2 tablespoons cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 cup water
1 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup and 2 tablespoons sugar
3/4 teaspoons baking soda
2 large egg
1/4 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Directions:

Preheat to 350º.  In a small saucepan, combine the butter, cocoa powder, salt, and water and cook over medium heat, stirring, just until melted and combined. Remove from the heat and set aside.

Combine the flour, sugar, and baking soda in a mixing bowl. Add half of the melted butter/chocolate mixture and mix until blended (it will be very thick). Mix in the remaining butter mixture. Add the eggs one at a time. Mix in the sour cream and vanilla until smooth.

Pour the mixture on top of the Oreo crust and bake until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean, 25 to 28 minutes.  Let the cake cool and refrigerate overnight.  Take the cake out and take your valentine shaped cutting tools and cut away.  Dust with powdered sugar before serving.  Enjoy!

I am guessing you might want to increase the recipe by 50%. Let me know how it turns out?
