These brownies are “to die for.” They have always been known as Mrs. Foster’s brownies in my family. The funny thing is that I always thought the recipe was from a family friend named Mrs. Foster until one day it came up in conversation. Our Mrs. Foster has nothing to do with this recipe. After you try this recipe, I am sure you will agree that Mrs. Foster wishes she had created this recipe.
Now the architect of this dessert is my daughter – the ultimate baker. She has a great touch with baking and has learned at the age of 20 some of the secrets to baking. In this case, the secret is slightly under cook the brownies. But you all know that. In so doing, you get a fudgier result. My family loves their desserts cold. So the under cooked brownie goes into the freezer and we eat when we can just bite into it. We substituted Belgian chocolate for the semisweet chocolate and this may be a remaining change to this recipe.
