I posted earlier this week about the Gluten-free bread I made. What I learned when I used the bread for this sandwich is that the bread is even better when grilled. The gluten-free bread has great texture when grilled. Interesting because when used for a regular sandwich the bread is not as strong as bread with gluten. So the grilling is perfect. This Gluten-Free Bread Grilled Cheese Sandwich totally makes you forget that it is gluten-free bread. Isn’t that the point?
Ingredients:
- 2 Pieces of Gluten-free bread
- 3 -4 slices of Smoked Cheddar
- 2 -3 slices of Smoked Gouda
- 2 – 3 slices of Smoked Goat Cheese
- 2 tbsp butter, divided
- 1 -2 tbsp canola oil
Directions:
In a sauté pan, heat the oil and 1 tbsp of the butter on medium high heat. Place the cheese between the 2 pieces of bread. Place in to the sauté pan.
Cook until the 1st side gets browned – 2 minutes. Lift the sandwich from the pan and add the 2nd tbsp of butter. Allow to melt, and then, return the sandwich flipped over. This time cover the pan so the cheese will get a good melt. Again, this side should only need 2 minutes or so. Remove from the pan. Cut in half.
Serve and enjoy!
It is always hard to find good grilled cheese recipes for those with celiac disease. This is going to be a wonderful recipe to try for them.
Look at all that cheesy goodness! I love the addition of smoked goat cheese–that’s different!
we love smoked in our house and often add smoked cheeses to our sandwiches. I saw this at the grocery store and had to give it a try. Really interesting flavor.
