I had, previously, bought a couple of dough mixes thinking it would be great to throw together one night when I didn’t want to start from scratch. The only problem is I rarely don’t want to start from scratch. I do not want to be negative but it is worth making from scratch but if you are newer to cooking, the box mix is definitely a great way to get started.

The beauty of pizzas is the dough is a canvass for any flavors and ingredients that you enjoy. My pizza is pretty basic. I began with a jarred pizza sauce (#WeeknightDinner). I then added a layer of basil. The pizza was finished off with plenty of cheese and slice tomatoes. I feel this is a pretty traditional Italian pizza recipe.

The one key to cooking with gluten free dough is to par baking. The gluten free dough will be soggy if the ingredients were added at the beginning. So the dough is cooked for 8 – 10 minutes to form a good base. Also, using a cast iron skillet creates a great crust on the bottom.

Ingredients

  • 16 Ounces GF pizza dough Namaste brand
  • 2 Tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 Cup Water keep adding as needed
  • 2 Ounces Basil
  • 3 Ounces Pizza sauce
  • 3 Whole Roma tomatoes sliced
  • 2 Ounces Spinach

  • 4 Ounces Mozzarella
  • 2 Ounces Grated Romano
  • 2 Ounces Grated parmesan

Instructions

  1. Begin by combining the gf dough with the olive oil and the water. Add the water a little at a time and bring the dough together. The dough will be a little tacky. If the dough is dry, add more water. If the dough is very wet, add some more dough. Let rest for a few minutes.

Spread the dough into a cast iron skillet and cook in a 375 degree oven for 8 – 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool. Once cool, layer on the ingredients beginning with the pizza sauce. Next, add the spinach. Finish by layering the cheese, the basil and the tomatoes.

    Serve and enjoy!
