Friday Five – Passover addition

The holidays are upon us.  So this week, I am posting for all my Jewish readers, the Friday Five – Passover addition.  For the non-Jew, the unique thing about Passover recipes is that the recipes cannot include any leavening products.  Think of that as bread.  It is so much more.  When you make your desserts, no flour.  The best thing about this quasi-Atkins religious diet?  Pretty easy to lose weight since you are not eating bread.  Was Atkins a Jew?

So we begin our 4000 year old journey with this Stuffed Cabbage from my friend Chanie of Busy in Brooklyn.

For a light and filling dish, try this Steak and Zucchini Horseradish Alfredo from Kitchen Tested.

A traditional side dish is Kugel.  This Vegetable Kugel was created by What Jew Wanna Eat.

Another really good looking side is this Spinach Kugel from Cuisineous.

Let’s get right to the desserts which lose nothing when it comes to flavor even with the Passover restrictions.  The first is A Passing Fancy from a 5 Second Rule.

A very traditional dessert is Coconut Macaroons presented by Urban Cookery.

The final offering is Chocolate Mousse Cake on a Meringue and Nut Crust from Something Sweet – Winnie’s Blog.

 Enjoy!
