I thought I would call on my fellow bloggers to come up with inspirational ideas to care of the Father in your house.  Before I get into the food ideas, I wondered how the holiday started.  What I learned is the first Father’s Day was actually proclaimed by the Governor of the State of Washington on July 19th, 1910.  It was 58 years after Woodrow Wilson made Mother’s Day official that Father’s were honored.  What’s up with that?  Did we Fathers have no contribution to the develop of the nuclear family?  In my generation, we do a lot more than just provide for our families.  Now we are very involved with the kids, and as my readers know,  we cook and clean.  I just decided I needed a break.  So let’s see some neat ideas to make the Father in your life happy.

So if you will be creating a brunch for your father, then let’s go with this British classic – Toad in the Hole from Honest Cooking.

If you need another brunch idea, how about this Monkey Bread by the Three Square Chef.

Or if you would rather do lunch than brunch, you got to go for this Grilled Carnegie Sandwich (totally up my alley) by Ingredients, Inc.

But since this post is my Friday Five – Five Fathers Day addition, we need something more substantial.  So let’s round a great dinner.  My first thought for an appetizer is these Bacon and Cheese Deviled Eggs from my friend Lisa, otherwise known as, the Creole Contessa.

Need a second appetizer to really send him over the top, try this Beer Candied Bacon from Tide and Thyme.

So we begin the main dishes with this fantastic looking Buffalo Turkey Burgers by Ari’s Menu.

Now what Father would not appreciate a good steak?  So I offer up this Grilled Balsamic Flank Steak from Good Life Eats.

But no dad will be ultimately satisfied if his sweet tooth is not taken care of.  So the first offering is for total fun, total entertaining.  It is Mustache Cupcakes by Your Cup of Cakes.

We finish this Friday Five -Fathers Day addition with this Coffee Pudding from Simply Delicious.
