Friday Five – an International Adventure

Today’s theme is grabbing dishes with origins from around the world. They say America is the melting pot.  The use of this term goes back to the 18th century but was not in general use until the early 20th century with the release of the play “The Melting Pot” by Israel Zangwill in 1908.  So this post offers up a true melting pot of culinary cuisine for you to try at home.


            Let’s begin our Asian inspired journey
                                  with the                                                                  
Crispy Chicken Spring Rolls from Just A Taste. 
   Crispy Baked Chicken Spring Rolls As we continue our cultural food journey, I present the Sweet Thai Chili Chicken from Noshing with the Nolands.
 
                                                                                  

Strolling through Asia, who doesn’t like a good bowl of soup in the winter.  This lighter fare of Dan Dan Noodles comes from Chilli and Mint.

                                   
Moving to India, my wife and my favorite ethnic food, this side dish uses my favorite spice – curry, in Creamy Curried Baked Cauliflower from Bev Cooks.

As I present the last offering for a dessert, I realize I did not leave the Asian continent for this cultural journey.  So we will have to do this concept again on the Friday Five in order to get some more frequent flyer miles.  This dessert is a traditional dessert of Mango Sticky Rice from Morsl.
