What is more American than the Hot Dog? This Friday Five – American Series addition 2 features the hot dog. Before my foodie days, dressing up a hot dog was adding ketchup or mustard.
A good hot dog starts with a good bun. These Homemade Hot Dog Buns are baked by Juanita’s Cucina.
And lest you think Hot Dogs are ordinary, hot dogs have great flexibility. Our first spin, is a Hot Dog topped with Ground Beef and Melted Cheese from the Blog Chef.
This really fun spin is a hot dog embedded in corn bread. This Corn Dog Casserole was created by Taste and Tell.
While my family may not like this addition, I love Mac and Cheese with Hot Dogs from Cully’s Kitchen.
Next, in honor of my wife’s hometown, I present Detroit Style Coney Island Hot Dogs from From Away.
The final idea comes from Feed Your Soul Too (do you know him?). A variation on a classic – the Pretzel Crusted Hot Dog.
I love all of these ideas, and they all made me smile. And no, there is nothing more American. Great post.
I looovveee hot dogs and you’re right, I don’t know if there is anything more american than the hot dog. All of these recipes look terrific 🙂
