As we continue to march through our Americana series, this Friday Five – American Series 3 – Pies explores the sweeter side of Americana.  The phrase goes Baseball, Hot Dogs, Apple Pie and Chevrolet.  As is my nature, I wondered about the origin of this phrase.  It is certainly part of our lexicon.  I researched it to find out it was in fact the creation of Chevrolet in a 1975 advertisement.  Kudos to their ad team for creating this memorable slogan.

So let’s begin with our Pie selection.  The first pie is mostly traditional and it is a Pear and Frangipane Tart from Little Artisan Kitchen.

Staying mostly traditional, how about this Blueberry Pie with a BlueBerry Crust From Delight Dulce.

This next offering is a beautiful Caramelized Apple Pie with Marzipan from Kaloria.

Our next recipe shows that pies can be flexible in how they are presented.  The Vegetarian Ginger shows us how to create Double Salted Caramel Apple Hand Pies.

Maybe I should have presented these for my Valentines Day Addition but it is never a bad time to show someone you love them.  So try these Cherry Heart Pies from The Botanical Baker.

Our final idea for today’s post are Cherry Pastry Pies from The Cookery Wife.

A late addition to this post comes from Inkling that is associated with a new site Modernist Cuisine at Home designed for home chefs like me.  I have presented their Pie Crust which they present as part of Pi Day.

Hi Peter, thanks for linking to my tarts. They’re pretty good with rhubarb too which is in season here in the UK 🙂
