I ate at a restaurant with my family a month or two back. Â It was a really neat bar/pub in Evanston known as the Prairie Moon. Â They had a great selection of small batch and craft beers from all over the world and an extensive burger menu. Â The burger craze is so much fun. Â There are so many combinations and so many creative ideas out there. Â This evening, I had their Black & Blue Burger. Â The burger had blackening season on one side and was topped with blue cheese on the other side. Â I loved this combination so much I said I wanted to try it myself one day. Â This is one of those days. Â Now, I am not in love with my picture but the recipe is definitely worth sharing.
Ingredients:
- 3 lbs of ground beef (I used chuck)
- 2 tbsp seasoned salt
- 1 – 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 3 – 4 tbsp Cajun seasoning (normally I would make up the spice but I made this after work one evening)
- 1/2 cup of smoked blue cheese
Directions:
Mix the burgers with the seasoned salt, Wocestershire sauce and form in to patties. Â I always do rough handmade patties. Â I make them a little round so the center stays moister than if they are flattened out. Â I will make 2 – 3 patties per lb depending on how many guys and gals are eating. Â After forming the patties, take your cajun seasoning and liberally apply to one side. Â Take the patties to your outdoor grill. Â Cook the seasoned side first. Â Cook on a pretty high flame to char the seasoning in to the burger. Â Flip the burger and put on the crumbled blue cheese as soon as you flip it. Â The cheese does not melt real well but I like the look of the crumble on top. Â Enjoy!
