I took my son to see Northwestern play the University of Minnesota (Yes – NU won).  He is a senior at NU.  Good excuse for a bonding trip.  No trip would be complete without some good local food.  We did very well in that department.  The DDD experience (no not that – Diners, Drive-ins & Dives) was to Al’s.  I had a lot of people tell me to go there too.  It is legendary.

There are maybe 12 stools at the counter.  The line was out the door when we got there.  Note that the line starts right behind the stools and you have to turn sideways to get out when you leave.  So the place is small.

It is a great breakfast spot.  My son had special which was poached eggs on top of hash browns smothered in salsa and covered with cheese.  I had the Israeli which was scrambled eggs with kosher salami and onions and I added smoked cheddar.  I also made sure to have hash browns.
