We eat a lot of salmon in our house. Salmon is such a sturdy fish that it can handle so many different flavors.

My Asian glazed Salmon proves this point. Even though the salmon is strong in its own right, it holds on to and holds up to the strong flavors of this glaze. The glaze is a combination of soy sauce (gluten free), tamarind paste, lime juice, butter, garlic and honey. The honey gives the sauce its sticky consistency when it is reduced.

I have made so many salmon recipes with so many flavors. But almost all of my dishes use the same cooking technique – begin in the CAST IRON SKILLET and finish in the oven. Only a few examples of the variety I have created include:

INDIAN SPICED SALMON

ZA’ATAR SALMON (Israeli)

MEXICAN SALMON

This meal comes together quite quickly. Made my rice in my rice maker – perfect rice every time. My BRAISED BOK CHOY is so easy and so flavorful.

Ingredients

  • 2 Lbs Salmon, cut into 4 fillets
  • 1 Tsp Smoked ground cumin
  • 2 Tsp Lemon pepper
  • 2 Tsp Spanish paprika
  • 1 Tsp Smoked paprika
  • 1 Tsp Smoked Sea Salt
  • 1/4 Cup Gluten Free Soy Sauce
  • 1 Tsp Lime Juice
  • 1 Tbsp Honey
  • 2 Tsp Tamarind paste
  • 2 Cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp Butter
  • 1 Tbsp Olive oil

Instructions

  • Begin by patting dry the salmon. Mix the spices and then liberally apply to the salmon.
Mix the sauce ingredients and set aside.
Heat the oil in a cast iron skillet on medium high heat. Begin by cooking the salmon flesh side down for 2 minutes. Flip the fish over and place in a 325 degree oven for 8 – 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and add the sauce ingredients to the skillet. Let the butter melt and begin spooning the sauce over the salmon. Do this for about 1 minute. If you like, you can throw the skillet back into the oven under the broiler for 1 minute.
    Serve and enjoy!
