These dessert Peanut Butter Bars are a true labor of love. Not because they are hard to make but because I do not eat peanut butter. What you say? I know my story is that growing up, my father was allergic to nuts. So we never had nuts in our house. My really smart readers are quickly jumping on the fact that a peanut is not a nut.

My mom never had any nuts in the house. It is in my head but I am seriously nut challenged. I have made some progress. Even though I do not eat peanut butter, I have eaten it in satay and the like. But in the case of these Peanut Butter Bars all I can say is that I told they were really good.

If you are a fan of peanut butter, then these are a must. The base is cookie dough with some peanut butter mixed in. The topping is melted chocolate with peanut butter mixed in. I have made enough desserts to know that these are ridiculous. If you like peanut butter, you have to give these a try.

One time before, I made a peanut butter cookie. They were Vanilla Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars and I was told they were really good. Below is a picture of these bars.

The Recipe
Peanut Butter Bars
Ingredients
For the Cookie Dough
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 – 14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk
- 2 cup chocolate chip morsels
For the frosting
- 3/4 cup creamy peanut butter
- 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chip morsels
Instructions
- In a large stand mixer, beat softened butter with brown sugar until fully combined.
- Add vanilla and peanut butter, beat until fluffy.
- Add flour and sweetened condensed milk.
- Beat until everything is blended well. Fold in the chocolate chip morsels.
- Press into an 8″ x 8″ tin foil baking tray.
- Melt the chocolate chips add peanut butter in a double boiler or bowl on top of boiling water.
- Melt for and mix until fully combined.
- Pour over the cookie dough and spread evenly.
- Refrigerate for 3 hours (or overnight). Cut into square pieces.
- Serve and enjoy!

First step is to take softened butter and mix it with sugar.

Next, the wet ingredients and the peanut butter are added in. Mix just enough to combine.

The final mixture should have a grainy fairly thick look to it.

The chocolate chips are folded in. I used a tin foil tray to bake the dish (I did not have an 8 x 8 plan but that problem has not been solved).

The chocolate is melted and the peanut butter is added in until it is fully blended. Then, the peanut butter chocolate mixture is topped on to the cookie dough.

Here is the Peanut Butter Bars ready to eat.

Hi Peter, this recipe look delicious! Just wondering how hot and how long it needs to be baked for? I can’t seem to find it. Thanks! Georgia
Sorry for the omission. No baking. Just sets in the fridge for at least 3 hours.
Oh I don’t understand you at all! You didn’t even try a little bit? They look amazing.
That’s funny. More for everyone else!
Good for you embracing different foods! I’m no stranger to peanut butter, so this looks totally mouth-watering to me.
