As my long time readers know, when it comes to burgers, if it is turkey, I was making the burger for my wife. As one who still eats beef, there is nothing better than a regular hamburger. With that said, though, it is way easier to add flavor to a turkey or chicken burger. Since the white meat is milder, it absorbs the flavor so much more.

So consider that if you want to create a more exotic burger, use chicken or turkey. If you are using beef, then you are looking to compliment the burger, not change its flavor. A recent recipe and post of mine highlights this idea. I made a Mushroom Marsala Burger using beef.

As I finish this post, I am sitting watching American Idol with my wife. I do not have a lot of extra time. I work a long day at my real estate investment career, and then, when I get home, I work on my blog. I do not watch much TV. I just finished The Bachelor. Yea, I know. I am a softee. But the good news is if I watch American Idol, guess who sits next to me? My bride of 27, almost 28 years.

One common theme I like to do with my cooking is to use the same pan through the cooking process to let each ingredient meld into the next ingredient. This recipe Turkey Burger recipe is no different. In this case, I started with caramelizing my onions in my skillet.

The Recipe

- After flipping, in the final 2 minutes, top with the cheese.
- Cover the pan with a top to get a great melt on the cheese. Remove from pan and set aside.

Thx Susie.
This turkey burger is amazing and to serve it on that grilled sourdough! Perfect!
I loved the bread too.
These burgers sound great! Like you, I do often go for the beef burger, but a nicely done chicken or turkey burger can be just divine, and that’s exactly what you’ve done here! I love that the bread is toasted in the same pan as the burgers, bet it soaks up so much deliciousness 🙂
The bread sure did have a lot of flavor.
These turkey burgers look amazing Peter. I’m with your wife. I usually won’t eat the beef(my hubby loves beef burgers) but chicken or turkey burgers are great! have a great day!
I rarely eat the beef burgers anymore because of my wife. I do not miss them but I do enjoy them when I have them.
