Turkey Burger

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 3 tablespoons seasoned salt
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons grape seed oil
  • 2 yellow onions sliced
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons canola oil
  • 6 ounces smoked gruyere
  • 2 - 3 ounces bar-b-que sauce
  • 2 pieces sourdough bread
  • 2 pieces romaine lettuce

Instructions

  1. Combine the ground turkey with the spices and form into 1/3 lb patties
  2. Separately, in a skillet melt the butter with the oil on medium heat.
  3. Add the sliced onions and cook until caramelized - about 25 minutes. Set aside.
  4. Remove from pan, add the grape seed oil and warm.
  5. Add the burgers and cook approximately 4 minutes per side.
  6. After flipping, in the final 2 minutes, top with the cheese.
  7. Cover the pan with a top to get a great melt on the cheese. Remove from pan and set aside.
  8. Add the bread and cook for about 2 minutes. Just enough to get a good browning.
  9. Assemble the sandwich with by first adding the lettuce on the bread.
  10. Next, add the burger.
  11. Top with the onions and bar-b-que sauce.
  12. Serve and enjoy!
