I think the single biggest complaint I hear from fellow bloggers is dissatisfaction over the review of our pictures from the various aggregator sites (i.e., Foodgawker, Tastespotting & Tasteologie). These sites are great sources to draw traffic to our individual sites if our pics of our food is posted. At times, it seems that their reasons for not accepting our pics are wrong. While, I generally agree with their assessments, there are certainly times that I have been frustrated as well. How can a picture be grainy when I can see the details and lines and texture of my food. How can the lighting be overexposed on one site and accepted on another site.
The other point I wish to emphasize is that it does not have to cost an arm and a leg to take great photos. A good camera and good lens is pretty important but props can be bought inexpensively and made from everyday items in your house. So the below link provides some great ideas on items in your house that you can use to take better photos. Also, if you click on the banner at the right – Tasty Food Photography, you can buy a very inexpensive and extremely useful ebook on the subject. It is the information I started with and no many others have as well. I truly hope this helps any and all of you that are frustrated on want to take your blogs to the next level.
