I like the idea of a meatball but I could never seem to like what I made. Â That is definitely changing. Â These Italian Turkey meatballs are really good and you lose no flavor with the turkey. Â I think the use of the fresh herbs makes all the difference. Â Additionally, the tomato sauce keeps them super moist. Â I also made a marinara sauce that topped these meatballs that was a really good compliment.
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
- Combine all the ingredients together in a bowl and stir well.
- Form balls the size of your palm and roll until firm. Â Put them on a non-stick baking pan.
- Bake around 12 – 15 minutes.
- Finish cooking the meatballs by dropping them in the marinara sauce.
- They should take another 10 minutes or so. Â Serve on top of pasta with marinara sauce.

Delicious looking meatballs. I agree with you that you don’t really lose any flavor using ground turkey. Plus it’s a healthier option than beef and pork.

I know you are the Burger Nerd but there are so many dishes that turkey or chicken could be substituted and you do not lose any flavor. I am sure you have recipes that utilize turkey and chicken?

Absolutely, I do sometimes use ground chicken or turkey when making burgers at home and when I do, I feel less guilty about eating a burger. I also posted a few recipes on my site which utilizes chicken and turkey. I’d say you could substitute a turkey or chicken burger in about 75% of my recipes without throwing the combination of flavors off and keeping it tasty.
As always, great recipes – really enjoy your website and look forward to checking out more of your delicious creations.

I have found the same thing. My wife does not eat red meat (except for Steak), so I am often making burgers with turkey or chicken. Gives you the chance to be more creative.
