This Friday Five – Mexican addition is in anticipation of Cinco De Mayo day – May 5th.  Cinco De Mayo is a commemoration of the Mexican army’s 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-American War.  What better way for us to honor this event than by highlighting Mexican food.  Mexican food is one of the top 3 foods I make and that my family loves.  This is the first of a couple of posts to help you develop your own Cinco De Mayo party.

We start this Friday Five – Mexican addition with what else?  A margarita.  Not your ordinary margarita.  A Pomegranate Hibiscus Margarita from The Raw and the Cooked.

What do we need to go with our margarita?  Of course, guacamole.  This Guacamole is presented by Cooking with Curls.

Before we get into the main course, we need some soup.  Let’s try a Smoky Chicken Tortilla Soup from Bowl of Delicious.

There are so many great ideas for a main course.  Today, I present to you a BBQ Margarita Chicken Tostadas from Half Baked Harvest.

You know you need a salsa to go along with your meal.  This Restaurant Style Homemade Salsa comes from Joyful Healthful Eats.

We also need a rice to go along with our meal.  Thought you would get a traditional Mexican rice?  Not here.  This is a One Pot Mexican Risotto from Sweet C’s Designs.

No meal would be complete without dessert.  These are Salted Caramel Apple Cheesecake Chimis from I Heart Eating.

Hello Peter! I’m new to your blog (which is wonderful I might add…and I’m looking forward to catching up with you!), and I’m wondering what is the Friday Five? I’ll have to go back and see what this is all about!

Everything looks fabulous…but that margarita is calling my name…along with Tieghan’s tostadas, and let’s just top that off with that delicious guacamole!
