Who says you can’t dress up a hot dog.  There are so many cool places doing great twists on traditional foods.  This creation was with leftovers.  That’s right.  Leftovers.  We had a party and I made a few different dishes around sausages.  I made 3 different types of sausages.  I already posted the Bobby Flay recipe of the Grilled sausages with ricotta and a shallot relish on a baguette.  But I digress.  I put together a chipotle sausage with the mango avocado salsa I had made for my fish tacos.

low angle 500

Ingredients:

  • 2 chipotle sausages
  • 2 Mangoes, diced
  • 1 jalapeno, diced
  • 1 avocado, diced
  • 1 tbsp oregano
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 1/4 red onion, diced
  • 2 hot dog buns

Directions:

Grill the hot dogs on your outdoor grill until you get a really good char.  Meanwhile, combine all the ingredients for the salsa finishing with the lime juice.

Jalapeno added 500

straight on 500

To eat, put the hot dog in the bun and put on as much of the salsa as you like.  Enjoy!

Hot dogs are still one of my all time favorites foods. So simple, but so delicious. Especially when you’re at the ballpark with a cold beer, mmmm! Looks delicious 🙂
