This Friday Five – Peruvian addition is inspired by our upcoming Saturday night dinner. My wife and I are having dinner at one our friend’s house. Rina was born in Peru. After eating at our house, she said I have to invite you guys over to have a traditional Peruvian meal that I learned from my mother. I was out in the car waiting the minute she offered. Well not exactly that fast. I will have to report later on the meal but I thought it would be a fun, at least for me, to get an idea of what I might be eating Saturday night. So this Friday Five – Peruvian addition is on.
Well we have to begin our evening with a drink. And I know this is a libation that our host has told me she is serving. This is a Fontana Pisco Smash by SippitySup.
What you say, one drink is not enough to begin the evening? It is a special night and we are in no rush. Ok, so let’s have a second drink. This drink is known as a Pervuian Chicha Morada that was created by A Cozy Kitchen.
With all this drinking, we better get food in our system. So how about a light appetizer. This Peruvian Ceviche was developed by The Talking Kitchen.
Now I love a good soup and I am not quite ready for the main course. This Red Lentil and Quinoa Soup was made by Simple Awesome Cooking (a fellow Chicago Food Blogger).
Now my regular readers know I love fusing cultures and I live pasta. So this Peruvian Style Pasta made by Sippity Sup has my name all over it.
There are so many great Peruvian recipes that I still haven’t gotten to the meat and potatoes that they are most known for. I am still not there. How about this Lechon Sandwich from Obsessive Cooking Disorder.
Alright, you want your dinner. The first recipe is known as Lomo Saltado (Peruvian Beef Stir Fry) by Gina of Skinny Taste.
Our next main dish is Pollo a la Brasa (Peruvian Roasted Chicken) presented by The Daring Gourmet.
We need a good starch to go with our Chicken. This potato dish is called Ocopa Arequipena developed by Girl Cooks World.
I almost too full for dessert. Are you kidding me? I can always find room for dessert. These are called Alfajores presented by Everything is Poetry.
To finish this post, I am going to come full circle. We started with what is known as a Pisco Sour drink. How about a Pisco Sour Cupcake from Provecho Peru.

I would say that Peruvian food is my second favorite cuisine (right behind Mexican food). Thanks for the list; I make Peruvian fairly often at home, and am always looking for new stuff.

Do you really? What is your favorite recipe? I loved the Peruvian dinner we had last night.
