These Turkey Meatballs in Curry Sauce is such a tasty recipe.  It has great texture and great color.  When you see the spice list for the meatballs, you will totally be thinking that I used my whole spice cabinet – NOT EVEN CLOSE!  Since I made this recipe, I had the chance to Penzey’s Spice shop in Pittsburg.  It was an awesome shop.  I had a field day.  I bought lots of spices that you can only find at a specialty spice shop.  I bought a few different curries; some other Indian spices and a whole lot of Middle Eastern spices.  I had so much fun.

Turkey Meatballs in Curry Sauce

The dish is broken into two phases.  The meatballs and the curry sauce.  As for the meatballs, the turkey is the perfect vehicle to take on all the different spices.  The meatballs are loaded.  First, the meatballs are baked to cook them through but also to get a nice crisp on the outside.  The meatballs are rotated during the baking to get that crispness on the top and bottom of the meatball.  The curry sauce is created by blending herbs, garlic, spices and tomato pureé.  Then, the pureé is added to hot oil in the skillet to release its full flavors.  It is finished out by adding coconut to create the creaminess.

The final preparation for these Turkey Meatballs in Curry Sauce is to add the meatballs to the curry sauce.  This completes the cooking of the meatballs and imparts a little bit of the curry flavor to the meatballs.  This dish is such a satisfying meal.  You get the heartiness of the meatballs and the sweetness of the curry sauce.  This is such a good combination.  The sauce is so good.  Make sure to have something else to sop up any leftover curry sauce.

It looks like there is a spice missing after garlic powder. You listed a measurement without the spice.

this looks delicious. I love curry and actually prefer ground turkey over beef. Great combination and it looks like it would be a good recipe to make ahead of time as well.

My mum loves turkey meatballs, but I don’t think she’s ever tried it in curry sauce. What a fab idea! I’ll need to pass this along. Thanks for sharing!
