Chicago North Shore Restaurant Month

I was contacted to attend the monthly meeting of the Chicago’s North Shore Convention and Visitor’s Bureau (CNSCVB) this past week.  You ask “why would they contact a food blogger” to attend their monthly meeting?  The CNSCVB does their own promotion following Chicago’s restaurant week known as the Chicago North Shore Restaurant Month.  The event was graciously hosted at the Farmhouse in Evanston by TJ Callahan.

The CNSCVB has enlisted many restaurants on the North Shore of Chicago to participate in creating special meals at special pricing.  To see the restaurants and their offerings, hit the orange widget/Icon on my side bar.  It takes you right to the CNSCVB information site about this promotion.

In an interview with Gina Speckman, the Executive Director of Chicago’s North Shore Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, the goal is to generate more business for local area restaurants, but more importantly, “is to highlight the magnificent food at North Shore restaurants.  You do not have to go downtown to get high quality dining.”   Lest you think that these “Dining Deals” are only for fancy restaurants, the participating restaurants range from Classy to the true suburban diner experience.  So check out the participants and learn about some of the history of the North Shore.

As a foodie, it was really fun for me to connect to this promotion.  I got to meet many interesting people but I would like to highlight my new foodie friends.  Starr is a school teacher who runs a blog known as Chicago Foodie Girl – providing the scoop on many Chicago restaurants.  I was moved by her friend Chuck who grew up in the projects but found his way out through a strong family and their love of food.   Then, I met this new internet business that is trying to connect food with people’s travels – Food Travelist – so go check them out.  As is always the case in life, you get more than you give.  I hope many of you can take advantage of this month-long promotion.
