Brownie Cheesecake Bars

Well I had just returned from the store, my daughter came downstairs and asked if I was ready to start baking.  I had all my ingredients to make Oreo cheesecake bars.  So as my daughter and I began to pull out all the ingredients, she heard me say “oh shoot” (yes, I do not swear).  I got everything but the Oreos.  Small technical problem.

2nd Plan B today.  My daughter went to google and typed in brownie cheesecake and this recipe from Becky Bakes came up.  What is amazing to me is that I recognize so many of the bloggers when these recipes come up.

Recipe
Brownie Cheesecake Bars (adapted from Becky Bakes):

Ingredients
2 pkg. brownie mix, prepared according to package directions – we used 1 fudge and 1 dark chocolate mix to make it even richer
1 – 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened
1 cup sugar
3 eggs

1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 cup sour cream

Instructions
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.
Grease a 9×13 baking pan.
Using a mixer, beat together the cream cheese and sugar.
Add eggs one at a time, beating after each one.
Mix in vanilla and sour cream. Set aside.
Prepare brownie mixes according to package directions.
Pour and spread slightly more than half of the brownie mixture into the greased pan. Carefully spread the cream cheese mixture over the brownie batter being sure not to disturb the lower brownie layer.
Use a hand mixer and drip the remaining brownie batter all over the cream cheese layer.
Bake for 40-50 minutes or until cheesecake appears set when jiggled.  Even though I typically have to cook everything less in my oven, I actually needed 55 plus minutes to have the cheesecake set.
Cool. Chill for several hours or overnight.
Enjoy!
