As you saw from this mornings post and you will see in tomorrow’s post, the offerings were about preparing my wife for the Illinois State swim meet. I have been wondering about how to support her performance with my cooking. Now mind you, she has not focused all that much on her diet as part of her performance. She is technically so proficient and has continued to do so well that she has not really been forced to think about all aspects of her training. I am happy for her that she can still do her work in the pool.
I did however, plan her pre-race meal for this past weekend but I asked her what she wanted to eat. So mentally, she got what she needed. I am doing some research post meet but it is never too late. Interestingly enough, this first link from the USMS says that the night before is not the time to start because you really cannot do much to help yourself. Just don’t eat to much. This makes sense because how much can one metabolize in such a short time?
This next article focuses on the Glycemic index. But explains that the it is more about the quantity and when you eat so that your glycemic index is maintained at appropriate levels throughout the swim meet.
