As I write this post, I have the great fortune to be sitting in Cancun, Mexico. 2014 was a very good year for my real estate business and the Chicago office of Colliers does an annual trip to say thank you to the best performers. When we left Chicago, it was maybe 1 or 2 degrees. So it is 70 and little cloudy but I am making sure to appreciate the weather.
The experience is so great because you get to know the brokers and spouses at a level that one could never know back at the office. At the office, we are all focused and busy working projects going 1000 miles per hour. Here, we are starting to unwind slowly. The friendships being created are really nice. The sharing of families and stories really opens a window into the lives of others and into our lives. We are all just real people. So many of us, I believe have our friends that were established in childhood, college or through our kids and our community. Most of us separate work and family. Maybe that is needed to create some space, to separate the stress from the non-working hours. The importance of the connections that our building now is to create the bonds that will help us work better together and to work in unison when the project requires multiple disciplines to be involved.
This week was pretty routine. I cannot often say that. On Wednesday evening, I went out with 3 really good friends from the neighborhood. Two of the three, we see frequently with their wives. The third is no longer with his wife, and therefore, he has moved and we do not get to see him much. It was fun catching up and eating really, really good Greek food. We went to Psistaria. This Greek taverna rivals any Greek restaurant in Chicago and that is saying a lot. My friend Bill told the owner that I was a food blogger so I gotten a tour of the kitchen to see them work. I love that. Everything about this meal was wonderful.
I am trying to finish this post by uploading my pics for this post. I cannot get to the pics to send from my phone. So I am sharing this Sunday Musings before Sunday is over, and hopefully soon, I will get to add the pics.
