Restaurant Review – Big & Littles

I have decided to start adding reviews to this blog.  The idea of this blog is to share with other chef wannabes – just people who enjoy food, enjoy cooking  and enjoy finding places as part of the cultural experience of eating.

My first entry in this regard is Big & Littles.  I saw an episode of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives on Big & Littles.  Upon first glance, the place looks like a greasy hamburger joint.  It is a quaint place set up with long wood tables inviting diners to share the experience.  When you walk in and see the menu, it has the regular burger fare but so much more.  There is a long list of fish tacos and a few additonal daily specials.  They also dress up the traditional with a foie gras french fry basket.

With that said, I ordered a Hawaiian burger – a hamburger topped with pineapple and sauteed red peppers with a special sauce.  I also ordered the truffle french fries.  My initial impression of the food was ok.  I did not love the combination of the burger. The peppers did not fit in.  The fries were cooked wonderfly crisp but they were over salted.

I called my son after my meal and he told me that I should have ordered the fish tacos which is what meal companion had.  My friend brought back his wife for dinner that same night.  I will definitely try it again and hopefully make a better menu selection.
