This recipe is the outcome of not wanting to waste anything. Â Or said in the positive, taking advantage of everything you use in your food preparation. Â In this case, I was making candy oranges. Â To make the candy oranges, they are soaked in water, sugar and an orange. Â What to do with the left over liquid. Â Think. Â Think. Â Think. Â I got it. Â Mix it with vodka and make a Martini. Â Nicely done. Â This was a great idea if I do say so myself.
Ingredients:
- 1Â small navel orange
- 2 cups water
- 2 1/2 cups sugar, divided
- 1.5 oz of vodka
Directions:
Slice the oranges super thin. Â Then place in the sugared water in a pot and cook on low heat for at least 2 hours. Â Remove the oranges and reserve. Â Grab your martini shaker and your shot glass. Â Fill your shot glass 1.5 times with vodka and once with the orange syrup. Â Fill the shaker with ice. Â Shake and pour into your martini glass. Â Cut a quarter of your orange and either drop it in the glass, put on the rim or both. Â Enjoy!
