Of all the things I make, I really like to be creative with sandwiches.  I think making sandwiches offers a great chance to be creative. Most of us think sandwiches are so common but they can be elevated fun, fancy, tasty, etc.

I had salami in the fridge.  So for the 2 days prior to the weekend, when I was going to make these sandwiches, I kept trying to figure out how and what to pair with the salami.  I started by making a rye bread.  I next went to Whole Foods to find the right cheese.  I eventually decided on a Jarlsberbg.  The finally finishing touches were sweet & spicy mustard and mild banana pepper rings.

Recipe
Grilled Salami & Cheese:

  1. Start by spreading the sweet & spicy mustard on one side of the bread; then, start with one layer of salami – 3 thin slices, 6 pieces of Jarlsberg cheese, 3 more pieces of the salami and finish with a handful of banana rings
  2. Take the 2 slices of rye bread and butter one side of each piece of bread
  3. Heat your grill to 325 degrees and grill the sandwich for 3 – 4 minutes on each side; after you flip to the second side, cover the sandwiches with a pot top to get the best melt on the cheese.
