Friday Five – Soups & Stews

January 3, 2014 by Peter Block 4 Comments

It is really cold and snowy here in Chicago and it is about to get a lot colder.  What better to counteract the cold than nice warming soup or a stew.  So this Friday Five – Soups & stews will prepare you for the months ahead.

So we begin this warming journey with this Sichuan Pork Noodle Soup from Curried Cantaloupe.

As long as we are in Southeast Asia, let’s stay and there with this Beef and Bean Sprout Soup from Beyond Kimchee.

Moving closer to home but no less warming, this vegetarian option uses crock pot to make this Broccoli Cheese Soup from Nourish Your Body and Soul (how can I not love a blog name like this one?).

Sticking with vegetarian options, this Roasted Cauliflower Tomato Soup from the Vegan Yack Attack looks like it will definitely stick to your bones.

Demonstrating the variety offered in soups and stews, this Rustic French Fish Stew  from The Kitchen Alchemist is definitely hearty but also beautiful.

Sticking to the really hearty idea, this Crock-pot Italian Stew from The Iron You is both healthy and easy to make.

We finish this post with this cool spin of a Lasagna Soup from Damn Delicious.

Ohhh now that lasagna soup is really speaking to me. It’d be perfect for a chilly winter’s night like tonight.

I’ve been flirting with the idea of trying my hand at some Korean dishes, and that lasagna soup sounds like it should be made with copious amounts of bruschetta or cheesy bread. Yum!
