This recipe is the outcome of not wanting to waste anything. Or said in the positive, taking advantage of everything you use in your food preparation. In this case, I was making candy oranges. To make the candy oranges, they are soaked in water, sugar and an orange. What to do with the left over liquid. Think. Think. Think. I got it. Mix it with vodka and make a Martini. Nicely done. This was a great idea if I do say so myself.
Ingredients:
- 1 small navel orange
- 2 cups water
- 2 1/2 cups sugar, divided
- 1.5 oz of vodka
Directions:
Slice the oranges super thin. Then place in the sugared water in a pot and cook on low heat for at least 2 hours. Remove the oranges and reserve. Grab your martini shaker and your shot glass. Fill your shot glass 1.5 times with vodka and once with the orange syrup. Fill the shaker with ice. Shake and pour into your martini glass. Cut a quarter of your orange and either drop it in the glass, put on the rim or both. Enjoy!
